The Right Time to Invest?
Is there a right time to invest and if so what should the strategy be? As with so many questions surrounding investments the answer will depend on the current situation and future prospects of the individual investor. For example, an individual who is looking to buy a property in a few years’ time will be looking towards a very different strategy from someone who expects their investment to fund their retirement in forty years.
Irrespective of individual expectations there is one time-rule which applies equally for all. That is the inadvisability of acting in haste. Leave investment planning to the last minute and you increase the chances of either finishing up with a plan which is not best suited to individual requirements or potentially falling foul of tax laws. With that in mind, whilst the end of the tax year is some two months away those considering making the most of this year’s ISA allowance or making a lump sum contribution to their pension plan would do well to start planning sooner rather than later.
