Responding to Changing Conditions

Nothing stays the same forever, or so the saying goes. Not even driving tests it appears are immune from the sands of time as the Government has announced a revamp to the way in which the test is conducted.

With effect from 4th December those challenged with proving their driving prowess will be spared the trauma of completing a three point turn or reversing around a corner under the steely gaze of the examiner. Instead in 20 minutes of independent driving, candidates will be expected to follow a sat nav or road signs. Commenting on the changes the DVSA’s Chief Executive, Gareth Llewellyn, said “It’s vital that the driving test keeps up to date with new vehicle technology and the areas where new drivers face the greatest risk once they’ve passed their test.”

Staying up to date, undertaking regular reviews, managing risk; these are areas which aren’t simply confined to the way in which we drive on our roads. For example, you may have made investment decisions based on circumstances and expectations which were right at the time but unless you take time to review and update them they may no longer meet changing requirements.
