Changing Priorities
The arrival of the new Countess Wear pedestrian and cycle bridge on the back of a low loader may
have caused traffic disruption across Exeter this weekend; but hopefully it also marks the beginning
of a new chapter in access across a route which in recent years has been operating beyond capacity.
Having served the city well for decades, the Bridge Road redevelopment scheme was seen by the
council as being key to unlocking major development sites in Newcourt and south-west Exeter.
In a way this scheme is a perfect example of the way in which things which are fit for purpose at one
time may need to be revised as priorities change. For example, the investment and pension
planning strategy which you set up in earlier years may have been the right one based on your
financial circumstances and expected priorities at that time. However, in the intervening years the
chances are that family, job or other circumstances may have changed, leading to new priorities and
new investment expectations. That’s why best advice is for investments to be reviewed on a regular
basis in light of changing circumstances.
If you’re looking for pensions or investment advice, or if your situation has changed and you may
therefore need to review your existing pension provision, please contact Beckworth by using one of
