Be Prepared
The first storm of the winter has hit the
West Country, flooding towns and villages and causing chaos on the roads.
Although early indications were that the storm would have the greatest impact
on the east of the country, by the time it achieved landfall storm Angus was
ready to soak Devon; with the environment agency warning of up to 60 mm of rain
in one two-hour period.
Such was the deluge that even the Exmouth
Lifeboat shop had to close due to flooding but it was by no means the only
casualty of the weather as people across Devon and Cornwall were warned to be
safe and not to make any unnecessary journeys. Whilst there is nothing we can
do about the worst effects of the weather, being prepared is the best
advice. That includes, checking gutters
and drains to make sure they aren’t clogged, keeping an eye on Environment
agency warnings and being prepared to reschedule your day with safety in mind.
Being prepared is not just a motto for bad
weather though. Whilst we can never
fully predict life’s journey, that shouldn’t stop us from making decisions as
we go along which could help us to prepare for a more secure future. If you’re
