A Time of Change and Opportunity

In the immediate aftermath of the Brexit vote it is safe to say that markets have been somewhat volatile with winners and losers across the board. That’s hardly surprising given that we are now entering uncharted waters; however, given the way in which the markets rose in the days leading up to the referendum there may well have been some form of correction even if the vote had gone the other way.

A week ago when we looked ahead to the referendum we commented that regardless of the result Beckworth would still be there providing long-term financial planning advice for its clients. We recognised that whether saving for retirement, managing investments to fund long-term care or later life planning, ‘people still need to invest with their current circumstances and future anticipated needs in mind’.

This is a time of change and opportunity but it is not a time for panic. The strongest investments are those which are made with individual circumstances allied to a long-term view in mind. It has also to be said that, despite headline grabbing comments of a crash, Friday’s FTSE 100 close of 6138 was actually ahead of the previous Friday’s close at 6021 and well ahead of this year’s low of 5536 seen on 11th February.

If you’re looking for advice on planning for your future, or if your situation has changed and you may therefore need to review your existing investment portfolio, contact Beckworth by using one of the links on our website.
