What If Scenarios

As we write, the government has begun the long process of renegotiating the UK’s relationship with Europe. Over the next few months we should expect to see proposal and counterproposal, rumour and counter rumour as the various interested parties try to influence the outcome of the negotiations. Does this mean that people should look to rebalance their investment portfolios in the light of this uncertainty? No, not necessarily. Whilst regular investment reviews are recommended to ensure that changing personal circumstances and expectations as well as changing markets are taken into consideration, if we played the ‘what if‘ game then this could easily lead to an investment portfolio which did not match individual needs and expectations.

Standard investment advice therefore remains for people to create a portfolio which has been designed to meet individual circumstances and expectations and then to review that portfolio on a regular basis.
